Work Experience Schedule
Period of four weeks, providing hands on work experience within a House and Office Clearance business, and a small shop outlet.
Upon completion of the four week period, a certificate of training will be provided with a written reference for any future employer. The
on the job training will be broken down as per the schedule below, with time allocated for job searches.
Job Title & Description:
General Duties Assistant
Working with the General Manager, and assisting with house and office clearances, (strict Health and Safety guidelines will be discussed
with Personal Protective Equipment provided and Uniform), deliveries, sorting of household items from clearances, (sales, donation to charity & waste), cleaning of furniture, (Personal protective equipment provided where necessary), Guidance on small repairs to furniture, polishing, and getting items ready for sale. Retail training including re-stocking, pricing, using a till and serving our customers.
Week 1:
Induction and health and safety training relating to the tasks involved day to day
Understanding the business, and background to Kent Re-Users
Customer Service Training
Data inputting of sales records
Job shadowing
Job searching guidance
Week 2:
On the job training with clearances
Post clearance sorting and furniture cleaning
Job shadowing with furniture deliveries and collections
Sorting of household items from clearances into category’s
Job search & CV writing/application guidance
Week 3:
Shop stock control
Re-stocking of shop
Shop pricing
Serving customers
Using the till
Job search & Interview techniques
Week 4:
Understanding basic invoicing (sales & purchases)
Understanding how a small business works
Basic Payroll session
Job search & enhancing skills learnt
Review of work experience
Certification & Reference
Hours:
Monday 9:00am-16:00pm (5.5 working hours)
Tuesday 9:00am-16:00pm (5.5 working hours)
Wednesday 9:00am-16:00pm (5.5 working hours)
Thursday 9:00am-16:00pm (5.5 working hours)
Friday 9:00am-16:00pm (5.5 working hours)
Total 27.5 hours
1 hour lunch per day plus two 15 minute breaks AM & PM
Person Specification:
This is a hand’s on role and requires someone with the following attributes:
Willingness to learn
Honest and trustworthy
Ability to take direction and adhere to Health and Safety practices
Ability to lift and move boxes, and small items of furniture
Assist with house & office clearances including being sympathetic to our bereaved customers who have lost relatives
Uniform with safety boots will be provided
